Illinois Experiential Practicum for Autism
About Illinois Experiential Practicum for Autism
The Illinois Experiential Practicum provides participants with the opportunity to work directly with students with autism, using a variety of evidence-based practices and teaching strategies. Attendees will engage in an intensive, hands-on learning experience under the supervision of distinguished team of instructors, led by Easterseals and Illinois Autism Partnership staff. The practicum is a combination of classroom instruction, observation and hands-on practice in a demonstration classroom, with time built in to share strategies with peers and consult with the Illinois Autism Partnership’s team of experts. Attendees will be coached in working directly with children with autism spectrum disorder of varying ages and functioning levels. This enables teams to practice their newly-learned skills in a real life setting prior to bringing the skills and an action plan back to their schools and districts upon completion of the training.
It is recommended that schools and districts form teams of 3-5 person
- Recommended team members: administrator, teachers (general and special), related service professionals and experienced assistants
-Teams can include a parent (no registration fee for parent participant)
