Lace up and get ready for a fun-filled day on November 4 at Freedom Park in Charlotte.  We’re looking for runners, walkers and people in wheelchairs to race or to take a stroll on a beautiful autumn day.

New this year is an official timed 5K race open to all runner both beginners and advanced.  We’ll also have our annual 1 mile fun walk/run.  One of our sponsors, Charlotte Fitness Lifestyles, who supports 5K runs, is excited about this new addition to our Walk With Me Charlotte event.  Register now and check in on November 4 from 7:30-8:30 a.m.  The races begin at 9 a.m.

Walk with Me is a national Easterseals fundraising event that spreads hope and awareness while raising funds to support people with disabilities. Families and the individuals we serve, along with many of their friends, will come out for a day of fun, entertainment and of course our signature walk/run. People with disabilities are counting on you for the support they need to achieve a brighter future. It's not too late to donate, register your team, and share this information with your family and friends to start fundraising today to change the lives of people in our community.

Meet our 2017 Easterseals UCP Walk With Me Ambassadors:

Louis, who is diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, has come a long way in his 32 years. When Louis teamed up with Easterseals UCP, he was able to learn life skills enabling him to live independently.  He works as a processing technician at CSL Plasma and enjoys living in his own apartment. Easterseals UCP staff provide Louis with behavioral therapy, job coaching, and overall care to help him maintain his independence. The support allows Louis to enjoy the things he loves most like reading history books, writing stories and poems and hanging out at his Temple where he is around people who are like-minded and open to new ideas.

Stacy, has overcome her challenges of being diagnosed with several disabilities including deafness, cerebral palsy and a spinal cord injury. Stacy is 31 and lives with six other women at the Common Wealth Group Home.  With the help of Easterseals UCP support staff, Stacy has an active schedule.  She exercises, volunteers with Misty Meadows Farms, offers her help at the Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing local regional center, and tutors deaf students at a local elementary school.  Thanks to Easterseals UCP and Stacy’s determination, she can live, learn, work and play in the community.

You’ll see Stacy StRolling and Louis walking at the Walk With Me Charlotte event on November 4.  Join their team!
