Sensitive Santa Charlotte Makes Holidays Brighter

Special Needs Children Experience Meeting Santa With Success

Charlotte, N.C., December 7, 2015

Santa made a very special visit to Easter Seals UCP Charlotte Center on December 5 and 6.  Jolly Ole St. Nick was the main attraction of the Sensitive Santa celebration. This event provided children with special needs, who generally have difficulties meeting Santa at the mall or other festive and loud locations, the opportunity to meet him in a calmer and quiet environment.

For Katie, a 5 year old girl diagnosed with autism, this was her first ever meeting with Santa.  A huge milestone for Katie and her family.

Heartwarming thank you messages came in from Katie's parents:

"We cannot thank you or the program enough for today! My daughter, Katie, was not only happy to meet Santa, but your kind elfs gave her an elf hat that she wore the entire time we were there!!   I have many happy tears in my eyes as I type this.  Thank you for helping make this a very Merry Christmas for our family!"
(Katie's Mom)

“Seeing our 5 year old for the first time coping with the stress of meeting Santa Clause, was a true blessing for our family this Christmas”
(Katie's Dad)

This event would not have been possible with the generous support of our sponsors:
