North Carolina woman heads to Special Olympics World Games in LA this summer.

Congrats to Starr Kluttz, of Concord, NC for her selection to go to the National Special Olympics in California this summer!

Starr, 51, who has participated in Special Olympics since 1983, competes in aquatics and bocce.  She also is part of the Employment Services program at Easter Seals UCP in Cabarrus County.  Recently, Starr has earned her driver’s license, is independent and works at McDonald’s.

Starr’s mother, Sylvia, said, “I’m proud of her and she gets better every day.  She becomes more and more independent.” 

She credits Easter Seals UCP for helping Starr gain the skills she needs to get a job and function independently.“Easter Seals UCP is wonderful.They help wherever they can whenever they can.I’m thankful to this good organization,” said Sylvia.

Special Olympics

Coming up on April 15 and 16 Starr will compete in swimming in the Cabarrus County Spring Games for the Special Olympics.
