Charlotte, N.C., December 21, 2015
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – December 21, 2015 – What began as a simple holiday food drive a couple of weeks ago has resulted in an overwhelming support by the communities in Charlotte.
The Easter Seals UCP Charlotte Center made a simple request to help three families with meals this holiday season.Once local businesses heard that food donations were needed, the food started coming in.In fact, it hasn’t stopped.
Donations came from Easter Seals UCP staff and families, Wells Fargo, Food Lion Store #2688, Harris Teeter Store #39, Kids R Kids Charlotte, and the St. Joseph Vietnamese Catholic Church.
So far, Easter Seals UCP has delivered food to 23 families, which far exceeds expectations to assist a handful of families. These families receive services including (ICS) Individual Community Supports and (SE) Supported Employment.
With the overwhelming support from businesses, Easter Seals UCP has opened a food pantry to help families in need year-round. We are grateful to individuals and companies, who saw the need and stepped up to help. This is part of our #MilestoneMonday and @GivingSeasonESUCP social media campaigns.
Our mission at Easter Seals UCP North Carolina & Virginia is to create opportunities, promote individual choice, and change the lives of children and adults with disabilities by maximizing their individual potential to live, learn and work in their communities.
