Family Dollar Store Encourages Responsibility

Justin Earns Independence

Charlotte, N.C., February 27, 2017


For nearly 10 years, Justin has been a valued employee at the Family Dollar Store in Charlotte.Over the years, Justin has earned more responsibilities at the store which include stocking shelves, organizing the store, and unloading merchandise.Working 25-30 hours per week, he is one of the most dependable employees at the Family Dollar store.

Diagnosed with mild Mental Retardation and Cerebral Palsy, Easterseals UCP has been there for him providing Justin with independent living skills and job training.  Now age 32, Justin lives independently in an apartment, owns a car, takes care of his 5-year-old son, and is a responsible and productive individual in our community.

Earning money through his steady job, has helped him purchase a car providing him more social opportunities to enjoy outings with family members.

Family Dollar store partnered with Easterseals UCP makes a difference in Justin’s life.


Easterseals UCP is a non-profit organization serving the special needs communities in North Carolina and Virginia.  Our mission is to create opportunities, promote individual choice, and change the lives of children and adults with disabilities by maximizing their individual potential to live, learn, work and play in their communities.
