Easterseals UCP is fortunate to have dedicated and experienced employees who have helped serve children and adults with disabilities, along with assisting families to better manage services for their loved ones.  This month we celebrate decades of commitment.

Trina Oldham, 30 years, Easterseals UCP Residential Program Manager

trinaAt the age of 23, Trina began her career at Easterseals UCP by helping to open the Zebulon Group Home followed by another residential home in Raleigh, NC. In 1988, she moved back to her hometown of Sanford and has been managing the group home there.  Trina said, “How exciting it has been to be able to encourage, support and witness others to be all that they want to be whether it has been to increase daily living skills, regain guardianship, move into their own apartment, and have meaningful relationships.”  Looking back, Trina says she has been blessed to be part of Easterseals UCP and the lives she has impacted.

Gwen Miller, 25 years, Easterseals UCP Early Childhood Education Services Director

gwenEarly on in Gwen’s career, she spent years working in the field of early intervention.  Gwen says these experiences helped shape her future and her desire to expand opportunities for children with developmental disabilities and their families. Through her work as a Community Inclusion Specialist, Director of a fully inclusive early childhood center and as a Community Director, Gwen has had the pleasure of expanding recreational opportunities as well as early childhood and adolescent mental health services.  Gwen said, “Easterseals UCP has provided me with a home to work and help strengthen my community.  It has been a wonderful journey.”

Dawn Doggett, 20 years, Summer Moore Child Development Center Director

dawnHer passion for helping young children began 20 years ago when she was assigned to work in the 4-year-old classroom with Crayola Kids.  For ten years, Dawn said she loved every minute teaching little boys and girls.  Later, Dawn was promoted to Educational Coordinator where she expanded her knowledge and worked with all the classrooms and their families.  She’s been Director of the Summer Moore Child Development Center for six years.  Dawn said, “It’s the laughter and singing of the children, the kindness of parents, and the hard working teachers that make my job such a wonderful place to be.”

Congratulations to Trina, Gwen and Dawn for their dedication, hard work, and their passion to help children and adults live, learn, work and play in our communities to the best of their ability.

Easterseals UCP works side-by-side with adults and children who are managing disabilities and mental health challenges. We serve as a nurse, a therapist, a social worker, a job counselor, a teacher, a psychologist, a caregiver and a compassionate friend all rolled into one. Our purpose is to help neighbors in need achieve better days and live their best possible life.
