Annual 2017 Judge Student Art Show

For Art's Sake Gallery Show Benefits Easterseals UCP

RICHMOND, VA, February 28, 2017

arts sakeThe “Annual 2017 Judged Student Art Show” is being held again this year from February 27th through April 3rd with the opening reception on Friday, March 10th from 5p.m to 8p.m.  The event is open to the public and free to attend. There will be approximately 40 adult artists participating in the show from For Art’s Sake Gallery, Studio and Framing in Richmond. All works in the show are for sale and 25% of the proceeds benefit Easterseals UCP, which provides services to children and adults with disabilities throughout Virginia.  This will be the fourteenth art show and the third working with and benefiting Easter seals UCP.

The show will feature beverages and delicious hors d’ oeuvres and the art will be judged by Mr. Francis Thompson. Mr. Thompson has managed Capital One’s extensive art program since 2004 Prior to his work at Capital One, he was an assistant gallery director at Ellipse Arts Center in Arlington, Virginian, gallery coordinator at Virginia Tech Armory Art Gallery and performed various art related roles with the Virginia Tech school of the Arts, World Arts Focus in Maryland and the American Museum of Fold Art in New York.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Virginia Tech focusing on Arts Administration and painting and drawing. Mr. Thompson has served on the Advisory Board for Longwood Center for the Visual Arts and has served on committees with the C-Art, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, and ChildSavers. He chaired several Canvas-VFMA Event tours and local studios and art collections, has been a guest portfolio reviewer at VCU and JMU and has published several art-related articles.

The art pieces are an array of painting designs in both water and oil and are created by the students at For Art’s Sake Gallery.  The group paintings will be on display for the duration of the show and are available for sale.
