Fostering a Love of Sports and Painting

Group home resident finds his passion for art

man in wheelchair shows his paintingJack Bryson is a 34 year old man who has been living in an Easterseals UCP Group Home in Lincolnton, NC for the past five years. He's a big Tarheel fan and he loves to paint. Jack is also living with multiple developmental disabilities, including cerebral palsy, but he doesn't let that slow him down.

After expressing interest in art, he took a painting class at Catawba Valley Community College. He has also participated in courses through UMAR Arts Center in Lincolnton, an arts center and gallery that provides instructional day programs for adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Jack's art is currently on display in the gallery and he has a waiting list for commissioned pieces.
