The 2nd Annual Charlie and Nancy Gaddy Champions Award was presented to Sam Eberts and LabCorp. Eberts is an international executive, Chief Legal Officer, Corporate Secretary and Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings.

For almost a decade, Sam Eberts has served as an Easterseals UCP board member, past board chair, mentor, coach and generous supporter and provided thoughtful steady leadership to strengthen Easterseals UCP’s programs and services throughout North Carolina and Virginia. His commitment was recognized at the Champions Gala recently as he was presented with the Charlie and Nancy Gaddy Champions Award.Charlie Gaddy, legendary anchor of WRAL-TV, described Sam with this passage from The Prophet, “It is when you give of yourself that you truly give. There are those who give with joy, and that joy is their reward. Through the hands of such as these God speaks, and from behind their eyes He smiles upon the earth.”

As Eberts accepted the award he said, “I am honored to receive this recognition, but I accept it on behalf of our dedicated professionals, volunteers and the thousands of individuals and families we serve every day.  Our Easterseals UCP family is what makes this organization so great and our mission so vital to North Carolina and Virginia.”

As a longstanding corporate partner, LabCorp is also a champion of Easterseals UCP. Whenever called upon, they step up and give financially. In addition, LabCorp provides professional guidance when needed that helps Easterseals UCP strategically grow, which strengthens the organization.

Thanks to donors and sponsors, the Champions Gala raised $350,000 for important programs assisting over 22,000 children and adults with disabilities, and their families.
