Easterseals UCP EMPOWER Summer Camp is an 8 week summer camp program for children living with an Intellectual and/or Developmental Disability and their siblings.

Eligibility
Children in school grades kindergarten through graduation from high school and who live with an intellectual and/or developmental disability are eligible. Typically developing siblings may attend with approval from site director and a small fee.

Additional Eligibility Requirements
Children Who:
  • Are able to participate in a group setting of peers with various disabilities
  • Willing to accept personal care as needed from direct service providers
  • Are able to participate in both indoor and outdoor activities
  • Do not have medical conditions that would impact their ability to safely participate in a camp and/or recreation program
  • Do not demonstrate harmful behaviors that may put themselves or others at risk
How to Apply
  • Application
  • Current immunization record
  • Copy of current IEP
  • Copy of Individual Support Plan or Person-Centered Plan if available
  • Current psychological/other qualifying document
  • Health insurance/Medicaid information
  • Pre-enrollment intake meeting

This program, a unique resource for families of children living with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, is provided in partnership with Trillium Health Resources to address long-standing gaps in social and recreational acitivities in North Carolina.
