Easterseals UCP Opens a New Autism Office in the Outerbanks
(March 20, 2019) Easterseals UCP is expanding its services in North Carolina. A fifth office opened serving families living with autism in the Outerbanks. See our locations.
(April 30, 2018) Easterseals UCP highlights Audrey Shen, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who joined the Easterseals UCP Autism Services Team in Raleigh in January 2017. Audrey and her husband, Dr. Mark Shen, a professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a researcher, are part of a partnership between Easterseals UCP and UNC to study neuroimaging of school-age children with autism. (April 26, 2018) New data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network report that 1 in 59 children in the U.S. has been identified with autism. Researchers who release this report every two years, are uncertain of the cause of the 15% increase in autism prevalence. Read more
(April 1, 2018) Easterseals UCP connects with children and adults with autism. North Carolina has the highest prevalence rate of autism in the U.S., that's 1 in 58 children in NC has autism. Nationally, 1 in 68 children has autism. Through services in Raleigh, Charlotte and Wilmington, North Carolina, children and teens are getting the behavior services they need. Families are working with our autism team to better manage behaviors, communicate, and develop independent living skills. Read more
