Easterseals Announces New Business Leader Board Members

SIILVER SPRING, MD – Easterseals DC MD VA is thrilled to announce the election of two new members to its Board of Directors. The newly elected board members are Dan Doherty, Managing Director at Burson-Marsteller, and Mindy Suissa Cohen, President of Higher Talent, Inc. “We are honored and delighted to welcome Dan Doherty and Mindy Suissa Cohen to our Board of Directors,” said Jon Horowitch, president and CEO of Easterseals DC MD VA.

Dan Doherty has more than 20 years of experience in reputation management and public affairs with expertise in crisis communications, government affairs, and media relations counsel. Dan is currently a managing director at Burson-Marsteller where he serves as a client lead and senior public affairs and crisis counselor for corporate, association and non-profit clients. His public affairs campaign experience spans across a wide range of industries, including technology, agriculture, food, mining, forest and paper manufacturing. He previously served as president of TheWadeGroup, Inc., where he managed the agency’s operations, marketing, business development, and public affairs.
Dan is actively involved with several charitable organizations including Catholic Youth Charities. Dan has a Master of Business Administration from the R.H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Providence College.
Mindy Suissa Cohen has more than 25 years of experience in the executive search industry. She has successfully recruited senior executives—nationally and internationally—for nonprofit organizations, institutions of higher education, public/private partnerships, and Fortune 500 companies. Mindy is the co-founder and president of Higher Talent, Inc., a nationally recognized boutique executive search firm providing services to higher educational institutions and nonprofits.
Mindy is an elected member of the Network of Nonprofit Search Consultants, and has been a panelist at the American Marketing Association Symposium for the marketing of Higher Education. She is involved with several nonprofit organizations including: American University Radio WAMU 88.5, Meals on Wheels, Levitt Pavilions for the Performing Arts, and University of Texas (her alma mater). She is also a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, Association of Fundraising Professionals, and Association for Healthcare Philanthropy. Mindy has a Bachelor of Arts in biology from the University of Texas, and recently earned a Level 1 Certification from Hogan Assessments where she has introduced its personality analysis tool to Higher Talent clients.
