Easterseals Launches a New Program for School Age Children: "Level Up"

Silver Spring, MD – Easterseals DC MD VA (Easterseals) is eager to announce the launch of a NEW School Age program for children in our communities from Kindergarten to 8th Grade to engage in virtual learning during school closures and After School Care at our Child Development Centers in Silver Spring and Northern Virginia.

Our school age program provides educational support and supervision for children as they engage in their virtual classroom platforms with their respective schools.  Educators will encourage children with virtual learning assignments, foster social-emotional development, and help the child to stay connected with their home school and teachers.

In addition to learning support, children will have the opportunity to share in challenging weekly STEAM [Science Technology Engineering Arts Math] projects.

Operating hours for this program will be from 7:30 am-5:00 pm [until further notice] and will be available at one of the following locations:

The Safeway, Inc. Child Development Center in The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Inter-Generational Center
1420 Spring Street
Silver Spring, MD 20910

The Jo Ann & Carl McNair Community Child Development Center
300 Hunton Avenue
Falls Church, VA 22046

Children enrolled at our centers will be supported in their daily active learning schedules with weekly communications with parents.  Easterseals Level Up School Age Program implements health and safety protocols such as completion of intake forms at drop-off, limited access to classrooms and center, twice-a-day temperature checks, appropriate PPE including required facial coverings, regular disinfecting, hand-sanitizer, strict enforcement of illness policies, plexiglass partitions and encouraging 6ft social distancing with visual reminders throughout the building and within the classrooms.
