Easterseals Announces New Director of the Cohen Clinic

Anneke Vandenbroek, Ph.D. Leads the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals 

Silver Spring, MD — Easterseals DC MD VA is thrilled to announce Anneke Vandenbroek, Ph.D., ABPP has been promoted to become the new Director of the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals. Dr. Vandenbroek is a long-time Silver Spring resident and community member who has played a significant leadership role in shaping and guiding the clinic from its initial opening in 2017.

As the former Deputy Director, Anneke already demonstrated her leadership capability as a clinician, supervisor and mental health expert with numerous published papers and successful trainings. From the start, Anneke has been crucial in helping the Clinic deliver quality outcomes. We are proud that more than 1,000 veterans, active duty and military family members have already been served by our Clinic with exceptional client satisfaction and improvement in mental health.”

As a veteran, I appreciate the importance of ‘leave no man behind,’ said Dr. Anneke Vandenbroek, Director of the Cohen Clinic at Easterseals. “By caring for the behavioral health of veterans and families, I have been able to fulfill this mission throughout my career. At this time, we are facing unique challenges in our community due to the pandemic, and increased need for services. I look forward to continued work with the clinic and expanding our services to reach an even greater number of veterans and military families in the coming years.”

Dr. Vandenbroek is a board-certified licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience working with military service members in the treatment of PTSD, depression, anxiety disorders, and other behavioral health disorders and providing clinic leadership. She is also a veteran of the United States Army Medical Service Corps.

While formerly serving as Deputy Director for the Cohen Clinic at Easterseals – one of 16 Cohen Veterans Network mental health clinics across the nation – providing veteran and military families with high-quality behavioral health services, her responsibilities included supervising clinical staff, developing staff training and education, facilitating and developing continuous quality improvement processes, and liaising with community members and stakeholders.

Prior to the Cohen Clinic at Easterseals, she worked at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for eight years in numerous roles including Director of the Adult Outpatient Rotation Clinical Internship Program, clinical psychologist and faculty member. Dr. Vandenbroek also worked with the Tripler Army Medical Center as Chief of the Behavioral Health Consultation Service. While on active-duty with the United States Army, she served as the Division Psychologist for the 25th Infantry. 

 Dr. Vandenbroek has presented at symposia for the American Psychological Association and the National Academy of Neuropsychology and has abstracts and journal articles published in Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology, The Clinical Neuropsychologist and Psychological Assessment. She holds a Doctorate and Masters of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University.
