"Nick is a pleasure to have on the team. He reflects Children’s Hospital values of purpose, collaboration, integrity, health, and innovation."
From Project SEARCH to valued employee, Nick has his dream job.
Throughout his Project SEARCH internship at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Nick proved he was a good learner and demonstrated great determination to succeed despite challenges of low vision. After completion of his internship in June 2015, he was immediately offered at job as an Outpatient Lab Technician.
Nick successfully became a valued team member by being a likeable, well-adjusted young man. He enjoys meeting the families being served and makes a great first impression by warmly greeting patients and their families as he ushers them into the lab exam rooms. He then sets up the blood drawing supplies, adhering to standard precautions policies by cleaning his hands before and after every patient.
Nick is assertive in keeping the workflow going and prefers to stay busy. He stocks the rooms, delivers specimens to the main lab when needed, and alerts his supervisor when supplies are running low.
Nick’s greatest strength is his positive attitude and his desire to do any task well. His colleagues are pleased with his contribution to the team: “Nick is delightful. He works well with everyone. Nick is always eager to learn more and is a quick learner.”
“I love my dream job at Children’s Hospital. I enjoy working with the lab team,” Nick exclaims.
He continues to grow his skills as a public speaker by addressing attendees at Easter Seals’ Evening of Impact and as an alumni speaker at the 2016 Project SEARCH Completion Ceremony.
Nick’s future is bright!
