One Couple Scores a Knockout for Easter Seals!

Fight For Autism BoxersOfficer Jim Kelley of the Mt. Pleasant Police Department and his wife, Lisa, had big plans. On Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the J.I. Case High School in Racine, the two of them - along with the help of family, friends and volunteers - held an incredible fundraising event, “Battle of the Badges – A Fight for Autism”, with all proceeds going to our Autism Services Programs. What a “knockout” the event turned out to be, drawing nearly 700 people in attendance!

Jim and Lisa single-handedly organized five rounds of boxing between local police officers and fire fighters, a table of nearly 100 silent auction items, a 50/50 raffle, a bounce house and rock climbing wall for the kids, as well as food and soda for sale – all of which was organized by them and donated by local businesses with all funds going to Easter Seals. We would like to give Jim and Lisa a very special “thank you” from all the children and families who are served by our Autism Services Programs and from all of us at Easter Seals. We'd also like to give a big thank you to all the participating police and fire departments for making this event possible: Mt. Pleasant Police Department, Racine Area Police Department, Caledonia Area Police Department, Kenosha Area Police Department and the South Shore Fire Department.
