Children's Programs

Easterseals West Georgia, Inc. provides high quality comprehensive therapeutic care that ensures innovative educational interventions and customized therapy services for children and adolescents with and without special needs. This program encourages participants to achieve their optimum level of independence.

Child Care Services:

Easterseals child care program, for children 6 weeks to 5 years old, implements developmentally appropriate practices & activities daily.  The therapeutic program follows a curriculum based on learning through play and child-directed creative experiences. Within a month of a participant’s enrollment, an assessment is conducted and goals are developed. Our teachers work on these goals through daily activities in the classroom, playground and cafeteria.  These skills are fostered through daily repetition of activities targeting fine motor, gross motor, adaptive skills, cognitive and social/communication skills.

School-aged Services:

School-aged children (6 to 22 years old) are engaged in developmentally appropriate activities after school, during the summer & during other school holidays/ breaks.  Development of adaptive/life skills is an essential focus of this program.  A plan of care is developed in alignment with the Individual Education Plan. Goals are identified and worked on through activities that foster independence in the following areas: safety skills (recognizing their basic information and emergency information), social skills (communicating with peers and respecting personal boundaries) and the development of independent personal care and toileting skills.
