Meet Maggie - Our 2023 Ambassador for the York Division

2023, Maggie, Ambassador, York

Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania is excited to announce that Maggie will be serving as our 2023 Ambassador for the York area!  Here's a little about Maggie's background.

Maggie was diagnosed with epilepsy and development delays at three months old.  She has tried countless medications, diet therapies and had three surgeries, but we’re still trying to control them.   Maggie was officially diagnosed with intellectual disability while in preschool, but we always knew since she was unable reach childhood milestones and her Early Intervention and LIU therapists treated her as if she was.

When Maggie was little we were able to enroll her in all of the same activities as her twin with a few tweaks.  Once she started kindergarten, we realized she needed activity with her peers and found Easterseals.  We were looking for a baseball program and found the Challenger program through  Easterseals.  After baseball she moved into bowling and one summer of Day Camp.  These programs have allowed her to make friends, interact with her peers and helpers (adult support staff) in a meaningful way.

Jen, Maggie’s mother says, “Maggie is loving preteen who loves her family and pets. We know that she will need a lifetime of care and our support.   We anticipate as she gets older, she will benefit from more of the Easterseals programs.  Jen continues, “I always heard of Easterseals and donated money, but I never really knew the full extent of their programs and services.  We feel fortunate to have found Easterseals.”
