Military Caregivers at Work

Webinar #2: Military Caregivers at Work: What you need to know to protect yourself and your family from discriminatory practices

For some military caregivers, the workplace is a refuge, offering collegial relationships and support. For others, the possibility of facing "family responsibility discrimination" (FRD) is a very real and present risk. In fact, the number of lawsuits related to FRD have increased by 400% since 2000 - including those cases involving family caregiving for an adult or elder. Guest speaker addressing this topic was Dr. Wagner. She is currently the Associate Dean for Academics in the College of Health and Social Services, New Mexico State University.  She has been conducting research on and writing about the intersection of work and family since the mid-1980’s.  She is the President of the Association of Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE)and Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America and of AGHE. Dr. Wagner also is on the Board of Directors of the National Alliance for Caregiving, our host organization for this webinar.
