2016 Heels and Wheels for Megan's House

The 2016 Duathlon/triathlon was held Saturday August 20th. 5 children from the Ware, Pierce, Brantley and Bacon County area competed along with their volunteers at the area's only local triathlon, Heels & Wheels for Megan's House.

The 5 children and their volunteers have been training together over the weeks leading up to the event on August 20th. They spent their time swimming, biking, and running. Miles for Smiles is a local group whose sole focus is to have individuals with developmental disabilities participate in local races. Miles for Smiles first began in 2013 when Ella Murphy and Jamie Bowen raised the funds for the specialized equipment needed, trained and competed for the 2013 Heels & Wheels Triathlon.

Everyone gathered at Laura Walker State Park Saturday morning to cheer and encourage these kids, their volunteers and all participants in their quest to finish in either the Duathlon or the Triathlon. The participants and the volunteers enjoyed the beautiful morning.
