Jorge is a Marine Corps veteran who separated from the military in 2017. In his pursuit of a career as a Marketing Project Manager, he had recently completed an MBA Degree from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego.
After Jorge was referred to Easterseals, he was paired with an individual Employment Specialist (ES) and they began working together on his next steps towards securing meaningful employment.
The goal was to find the right job for Jorge, which meant the best fit for his background in logistics and experience with the military, but also his personal career goals and aspirations of becoming a skilled project manager. His ES connected Jorge to many helpful transition resources as well as career contacts in San Diego County.
“Throughout our meetings, I felt that my employment specialist was looking [out] for my best interests. Never did I feel like just another person she was trying to find any job [for], but that she was genuinely trying to assist me in my transition to find the best career choice." Jorge recalls. He accepted a contractor offer with Google as an Event Security Coordinator (Google’s version of a Project Manager) and started his new career this past September.
Thanks to Easterseals Bob Hope Veterans Support Program, Jorge received the motivation, proper employment connections and the extra boost in his confidence, which allowed him to successfully transition into civilian life and become even more excited for his future.
He humbly shares about his experience with Easterseals, “Words may not express how much I thank you and appreciate you supporting me through my transition...The connections and resources you were able to assist me with went a long way and definitely helped me achieve where I am today.”
