Coronavirus (COVID-19) Prevention Protocol

Updated March 15, 2020

Due to the recent outbreak of the Coronavirus (Covid-19), Easterseals South Carolina has developed a prevention protocol to keep the children and families we serve, as well as our employees, safe and healthy. The following two requirements will remain in place until further notice.

  • No home visit participant or employee can currently have a fever of 100 degrees or higher or had a fever within the previous 24 hours.
  • No home visit participant or employee should have had any direct contact with persons diagnosed with the Coronavirus within the last 14 days.
  • No supplies or toys will be brought into any family home, daycare, school, or other service location.

.

Steps Required for Each Home Visit

Step 1:

Upon arrival to home visit, the employee will wash hands thoroughly using soap and warm water for 20 seconds. This is equivalent to the time it takes to sing the “Happy Birthday” song twice through.

Step 2:

Before beginning the session, child and all home visit participants will wash their hands thoroughly using soap and warm water for 20 seconds. This is equivalent to the time it takes to sing “Happy Birthday” twice through.

Step 3:

If the session will occur at or on a hard surface, the whole surface will be wiped down with a 60% alcohol-based cleaner or Clorox Wipes. Additionally, employees who complete paper documentation must wipe down their writing utensils at this time. Employees who utilize a tablet or laptop will also need to wipe down their equipment at this time.

Step 4:

Prior to leaving the home visit, the employee will wash hands thoroughly using soap and warm water for 20 seconds. This is equivalent to the time it takes to sing the “Happy Birthday” song twice through.

Thank you for taking this preventative approach seriously.
