Each state has designed its own unique early intervention system to meet the needs of the children and families of its communities. This means the services covered and the amount that is paid may vary from state to state. You can then call the state or local office for more detailed information.

Services may be covered by your insurance, if you have it. But some insurance plans do not pay for services related to certain diagnoses. In addition, many insurances require a co-pay that require you to pay either a certain amount each visit, or a percentage of the total bill. If you have insurance, it is important that you call your adjuster and ask them specifically if they will pay for the services that have been recommended and what your financial responsibility will be.

If you do not have insurance or if your insurance does not cover the service recommended, the state early intervention program should pay for the services included in your Individualized Family Services Plan (IFSP).
