White Paper: Easter Seals Make the First Five CountSM
How Can We Invest in the Future of America's Most Vulnerable Children?
Every year we fail to identify 1.45 million children below the age of five at risk for developmental and behavioral problems or social delays. A similar number of children with developmental delays cannot access critical early intervention services.
Children with disabilities who go undiagnosed enter school with learning and health issues that put them behind their peers and have a lasting and profound effect on their ability to meet their full potential.
The Easter Seals Make The First Five Count White Paper outlines the importance of investing in early identification and treatment programs for our country's most vulnerable young children. We as a nation fail to invest nearly enough resources in early detection and treatment for children under the age of five, even though the programs are incredibly effective and more than pay for themselves.
