Easterseals affiliates provide workforce development services in 140 centers and 39 states. These services range from vocational assessments to community service opportunities and include work adjustment and skills training, computer skills training, job placement, and self-employment programs.
The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) provides training and employment services to low-income veteran and military family job seekers age 55 and older. We assist seniors in finding jobs that are unsubsidized and provide meaningful work. The jobs are in both the public and private sectors. Program participants earn while they learn, gaining competitive job skills and refining existing skills through paid, part-time, on-the-job training assignments at nonprofit organizations and government agencies.
Through this transitional employment program, Easterseals partners with community-based non-profit organizations and government agencies (host agencies) to provide participants with training opportunities to update their skills and target personal employment goals. Since 2003, Easterseals has served more than 9,000 older job seekers through SCSEP, with more than 2,000 people transitioning out to employment.
These programs, supported through a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Services, provides services to assist homeless veterans in their efforts to reintegrate into the community and into meaningful employment.
