Lake Winnipesaukee, NH –Hundreds of participants enjoyed the day as they traveled on or around Lake Winnipesaukee at this year’s 17th Annual HK Powersports Land and Lake Poker Run on July 8. This event is the region’s hottest land and lake poker run and is dedicated to Peter Makris, the late owner of the NASWA Resort, each year.

Participants traveled by cars, motorcycles, boats, personal watercrafts, trucks and jeeps. This year the goal was to raise $100,000 in one day for Easterseals programs and services to help people of all ages with disabilities and special needs, and the goal was surpassed by $32,000.

To take part, participants collected sealed playing cards from a variety of fun checkpoints with games and raffles on and around the lake before heading to the NASWA Resort. At the NASWA, participants play their poker hand and enjoyed the huge beach party loaded with an amazing buffet by Sysco, music from Crown Entertainment, beach games and prizes sponsored by Coors Light and The Cohen Family, and other family-fun activities throughout the day including an exciting live auction which raised over $60,000!

“My family and I are happy to be a part of the Easterseals Poker Run as the title sponsor. Not only has this event become an exciting summer staple in the Lakes Region because of everyone’s hard work and devotion, but it brings so many generous people together to raise money for Easterseals families. I was blown away this year by people’s participation and sentiment. The amount raised was above and beyond what was expected, and will help so many people through this organization, which makes our hearts happy. We would like to thank Sea-Doo for their assistance in part with the great prize that we are able to provide," said Lisa Whalley, General Manager of HK Powersports Laconia, NH.

The High Roller’s Club, sponsored by Pederson Flooring & Refinishing, raised the stakes for serious players. Congratulations to the High Roller’s Club winner, Randy Hobbs of Laconia, NH, land winner Rodney Mitchell of Raymond, NH and lake winner Aaron Doucet of Manchester, NH. The Grand Prize Raffle was sponsored by HK Powersports, Sea-Doo, BRP, Winnipesaukee Marine Construction, and Irwin Marine. The SeaDoo was won by Keith Menezes of Massachusetts, the canoe by Denis Vailancourt of Goffstown, NH, the kayak by Shirley Gordon of Manchester, NH, and the grill by Rose Padfield of Goffstown, NH.
