Manchester, NH - The Easterseals NH Dental Center, in Manchester, NH, has been awarded a $28,750 grant from the Walmart Foundation to help fund the center's expansion in order to accommodate and serve an increased number of patients annually.
Easterseals NH is in the process of renovating its Auburn Street Headquarters in Manchester, NH, which houses the Dental Center. The Easterseals NH Dental Center fills an emerging need within the community for free or low cost dental care provided by a staff that is culturally competent and experienced in providing quality oral health care to children and adults with disabilities and special needs, including care for people living with HIV. The Center is one of the few dentist offices in Manchester that treats Medicaid clients, thus meeting a critical need in the Queen City.
Although the Dental Center serves more than 1,300 individuals annually through its three dental chairs, the Center is unable to meet the growing number of individuals in need of services, as these chairs are at maximum capacity. The renovations will not only expand its capacity, adding two chairs to the existing three, but the Dental Center's physical space will be larger, giving the dental team more space to do their work. Patients will enjoy the comfort and privacy of a dedicated reception and waiting area.
"Our skilled team served more than 1,300 patients in the Dental Center last year alone, and we expect to accommodate an additional 5,640 appointments for new and existing patients annually with the planned expansion and upgrades," said Easterseals NH President & CEO Larry Gammon. "The Walmart Foundation has been a longtime supporter of Easterseals and understands the critical need for dental care in our community. We are thankful they have joined us in this important work."
The Dental Center is sponsored by Northeast Delta Dental and offers comprehensive exams, routine cleanings, x-rays, restorative procedures, oral surgery, prosthodontic, endodontic, and emergency care during regular office hours.
"We are proud to support Easterseals and its commitment to improving the lives of New Hampshire families," said Chris Buchannan, Walmart Director of Public Affairs & State and Local Government Relations. "We know the support services like the Dental Center can really make a difference in the lives of families and children with disabilities and special needs, and we look forward to continuing to see positive outcomes from this program."
