Hundreds of participants enjoyed the sunshine as they traveled on or around Lake Winnipesaukee at this year’s 16th Annual HK Powersports Land and Lake Poker Run at the Naswa Resort on July 9. This event is the region’s hottest land and lake Poker Run and is dedicated to Peter Makris, the late owner of the Naswa Resort, each year.
Participants traveled by cars, motorcycles, boats, personal watercrafts, trucks and jeeps, and raised more than $94,000 for Easter Seals programs and services to help people of all ages with disabilities and special needs. This was the most successful year in the history of the event, bringing the 16-year total to more than $1.024 million!
“We are so grateful for the support from so many businesses and individuals in the lakes region and beyond who have helped this event to thrive,” said Easter Seals Director of Events & Corporate Relations Christine Pederson. “Hitting the million dollar milestone this year illustrates just how important this event is to help provide services to people of all ages with disabilities and special needs throughout the state.”
In order to take part, participants collected sealed playing cards from a variety of fun checkpoints with games and raffles on and around Lake Winnipesaukee before heading to the Naswa Resort. At the resort, participants play their poker hand and enjoy the huge beach party loaded with an amazing buffet by Sysco, music from Crown Entertainment, beach games and prizes sponsored by Coors Light and The Cohen Family, and other family-fun activities throughout the day including an exciting live auction which raised $26,000!
“We are thrilled, with Sea-Doo, to again be the sponsor of such a great event to benefit Easter Seals, especially achieving the million dollar mark this year,” said General Manager of HK Powersports Laconia Lisa Meeken. “Easter Seals NH is such a wonderful organization and we enjoy working with all of dedicated volunteers who make this event possible.”
