Ronald McDonald Vists Camp Colonie

Camp Colonie Enjoys Another Amazing Summer Thanks to Ronald McDonald House Charities!

Ronnie Mac

This summer was a fun and exciting six weeks for the 77 Capital Region campers who attended Camp Colonie! Camp Colonie provides children with disabilities and their typically developing peers a summer camp experience unlike any other. Campers receive therapies and academic supports to ensure their continued development, all while enjoying the fun, outdoor setting of a summer camp. Thanks to a generous grant from the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region (RMHC), this summer campers received hammocks, new therapy equipment, arts and crafts supplies, basketball hoop, games, and more! In addition to new equipment and supplies, Camp Colonie enjoyed various special events including the Homespun Dancers, carnival day, an ice cream truck, pizza party, Taekwondo, and, of course, a visit from everyone’s favorite clown – Ronald McDonald! A big thank you to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region, your support and passion allowed more than 70 campers to walk away this summer with new skills, friends, and memories.

RMHC reaches out to meet the needs of the community by funding programs specifically benefiting children in the areas served by our local McDonald‘s restaurants. Beneficiaries of RMHC grants are local 501(3)(c) non-for-profit organizations that have demonstrated an ability to respond to the needs of children and their families in a definitive, hands-on manner that yields measurable results. Since 1996, RMHC has awarded more than $1 million locally for programs in the following three categories: health care, education and the arts; and civic and social services.
