Employment Readiness Academy

Our Employment Readiness Academy is a mentorship program enabling people with disabilities to learn workplace skills while contributing to the daily operations of an organization. The program was launched at Lutheran Hospital in November 2015, and it has grown to include additional sites at SIRVA, Ivy Tech Community College, and St. Joseph Hospital.

Small groups of four to six individuals are chosen for an intensive 18-week hands-on training experience to prepare them for the workforce. Participants learn general skills for workplace success using the “Skills to Pay the Bills” curriculum in addition to learning job-specific skills through mentorships in various departments and jobs of the selected mentorship sites.

Participants who complete the academy gain skills and experience that help them find employment success in the community.
