Sibshops

Sibshops logo for highlight

Sibshops give siblings of children with special needs an opportunity to meet others like them in a relaxed setting, discuss common joys and concerns, find out how others handle similar situations and learn more about the implications of their sibling’s special needs.

Lutheran Children’s Hospital and Easterseals Arc have worked together for several years to offer Sibshops.

Sibshops strengthen families because they shine the spotlight on siblings, encouraging them to interact with and support their peers’ while learning ways to deal with challenges they face regularly.

Sibshops are not therapy, although their effect may be therapeutic for some children. Sibshops focus on the well-being of a family member most likely to have the longest-lasting relationship with a sibling with special health or physical needs.
