Supported Living

Similar to group homes, supported living provides assistance and supervision around the clock.

Usually two to five individuals with disabilities live together in a house or apartment, and Easterseals Arc provides direct support professionals (DSPs) to assist with life skills, such as taking medication and attending to other health care needs, grooming and hygiene, cooking, cleaning, handling finances, etc.

Our community integration team ensures that participants in our supported living program have opportunities to pursue their personal interests and take part in local, regional and out-of-state activities and trips.

Quick Facts About Supported Living

Requirements: To be eligible for supported living services the following criteria must be met:

Medical Care: All staff are trained on first aid and dispensing medication and are CPR certified. Also, each staff member is trained on each individual’s specific information prior to working in the home. All Easterseals Arc clients may use our on-site Lutheran Medical Group Clinic for additional health care needs.

Transportation: When transportation is required, staff use their own vehicles. We check every staff member’s driving record upon hire and annually to ensure they maintain a clean driving record. Staff also must provide continuous proof of auto insurance. If an individual requires the use of a lift van, the staff will check out an agency van when necessary.
