Skill Development Center

The Skill Development Center offers a year-round program that provides services to adults with autism and developmental disabilities. The program assists individuals who have completed high school transition into new opportunities within the community. A low staff-client ratio is available along with individualized schedules to ensure that each participant receives the support they need to meet their needs and goals. Staff assists individuals with maintaining their current skills while providing the training and education needed in order to achieve their desired outcome. Hours of operation are Monday thru Friday, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm.

Easterseals' Skill Development Center assists individuals with improving their social skills by joining in group activities, volunteer work and outings in the community. Individuals have the opportunity to participate in a variety of field trips offered every month. Going to the movie theater, bowling and shopping at the mall are some of the group’s favorite outings.

Speech, occupational therapy and physical therapy is available for those in need of such services. Life skill lessons are also provided so that each individual may gain greater independence. Vocational training and pre-work skills are available to individuals who would like to transition to employment opportunities within the community. New to our vocational training is a snack cart in which all participants have the opportunity to provide a service to businesses and customers who visit our building. The program developed for each participant is designed to assist them with being successful in their future.
