Pre-Employment

Easterseals Midwest's Employment Services are designed to provide you or your loved one with the skills to prepare for employment. We have a variety of programs for teens and adults alike. Through community volunteer opportunities and internships, participants gain hands-on experience to improve their skill set and prepare for competitive employment.

We believe in the abilities of people with disabilities. Through many years of experience, we have found that people with disabilities can be successfully employed in the community given a good job match and the proper level of support and structure.

Pre-Employment Services offered:

Pre-Employment Training One-On-One: We provide individualized assistance in learning job tasks and social skills needed to succeed in the workplace. Our staff support with career planning, social skill development, accessing transportation, developing job task skills, and matching participants with volunteer sites that match their career interests.

RISE/Pre-Employment Group Training: This six-month to year-long employment program helps people with disabilities develop job skills and find competitive employment in their community through six-month internship opportunities. Participants will also complete employment-focused curriculum on the social skills necessary for successful employment.

Project SEARCH/Employment-Based Transition Training: This program serves fifth-year high school seniors who stay on to participate in this nine-month program. Students will develop important work skills within a community business. They will learn through classroom instruction and hands-on internships. This program supports students in career exploration and obtaining successful employment.

Summer Work Experience: We provide high school students with disabilities paid, work-based learning experiences in community businesses. Participants receive job coaching and employment skill training to succeed in their workplace.

We offer Pre-Employment Services in two arrangements: Individualized Skill-Building and Group Based Skill-Building. Both arrangements will provide job skills and workplace preparation. Individualized Skill-Building helps individuals pinpoint specific skill sets in order to prepare for competitive employment. Group Based Skill-Building teaches these workplace skills in a small group setting.
