Ben is on a journey to greater independence.

By age 17, Ben Trockman had competed in motocross races for years. But during a race in 2006, Ben crashed. His neck was broken and life suddenly changed.

After months in hospitals, Ben returned to Evansville. The Easterseals Rehabilitation Center helped Ben’s family make their home accessible.  Ben started physical therapy at Easterseals with the goal of maximizing his independence.

Initially, Ben had no sensation or function from the neck down.  With intensive therapy, he began to regain feeling and muscle movement. It’s hard work!  Ben draws upon his competitive nature to stay motivated. He knows that each improvement is a victory that brings him closer to his goals.

Now 23, Ben is a graduate of the University of Southern Indiana. He is employed at Old National Bank, where he holds the position of Community Outreach and Employment Specialist.

Ben was our Easterseals 2010 Adult Representative and went on to become the National Easterseals Adult Representative in 2012.

No matter where the future leads, Easterseals will be here for Ben!
