Meet the members of our 2021-2022 internship class:

Sidney Engele 1x1 photo
Sydney Engele

Sydney Engele is a psychology intern specializing in Clinical Psychology. She is currently enrolled in the Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL. She completed clinical work at Advocate Illinois Masonic Pediatric Developmental Center, an outpatient pediatric center for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, where she conducted individual and team clinic assessments for autism spectrum disorders. She also completed clinical work at the UI Health Craniofacial Center at University of Illinois Hospital, where she conducted individual and group therapy with children, adolescents, and adults regarding adjustment to a new craniofacial diagnosis, anxiety towards upcoming surgery, stigma/bullying, etc. Her clinical interests include assessment and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders, particularly autism spectrum disorder, as well as psychotherapy with children with anxiety. Regarding research interests, Sydney is interested in social stigma towards those with autism spectrum disorder, specifically developing/improving psychoeducational programs for children to enhance their understanding of the disorder and the social consequences those with this condition experience in hopes of decreasing bullying rates within the school setting.

Sydney is originally from Nashville, IL. She is passionate about her family and friends as well as volunteering. In her free time, she enjoys running, baking, and having movie nights with her family.

Jamie Gaither

Originally from the Atlanta, Georgia area, Jamie Gaither moved to Indiana in the fall of 2016 to begin her graduate education in School Psychology at Ball State University. She entered the PhD program in the fall of 2018, where she is currently enrolled. Throughout her five years in Muncie, Jamie worked in both school and clinical practice. This sparked her passion for working with rural and underserved communities and understanding and working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders and their families. Jamie is also interested in enhancing the experience of children with developmental disabilities across multiple settings. She hopes to continue this work through consultation and collaboration here at Easterseals.

In addition to her passion for all things related to child psychology, Jamie is an avid sports lover, book reader, and loves to take her newly adopted dog Bean for walks and explore many of southern Indiana’s beautiful parks. Jamie loves to travel, and is delighted things are opening up so she can continue on her current project of visiting all 50 states. She is also always looking for the next TV show to watch! Jamie is excited to learn with and from the community here at Easterseals and Evansville this year!

Natalie Peters

Natalie Peters is completing her PhD in School Psychology at Indiana University-Bloomington. After completing her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Purdue University, she earned a Master’s in Education in 2019.  In addition to completing special education evaluations and implementing various behavioral and academic interventions within the schools, she has also completed clinical work at Indiana University School of Medicine and Easterseals Crossroads in Indianapolis, IN. Her clinical work focused largely on inpatient and outpatient neuropsychological evaluations for children and adolescents with a wide array of CNS medical conditions. Her interests include assessments and treatment outcomes of intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Natalie is originally from the Evansville area and is excited to be in her hometown for her pre-doctoral internship year. She enjoys watching Purdue basketball, cooking, reading, and riding bikes with her husband.
