Ticket to Work

What is the Ticket Program?

The Ticket to Work Program is an innovative program created by the Social Security Administration for individuals with disabilities who want to work. It increases your available choices when obtaining employment services, vocational rehabilitation services, and other support services you may need to get or keep a job. It is a free and voluntary service. You can use the Ticket if you choose, but there is no penalty for not using it. While you are using the Ticket, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will not conduct a continuing disability medical review of your case.

If you receive a “Ticket” (click here to see a sample Ticket) in the mail from the S.S.A., you will also receive a list of Employment Networks (EN’s) you can contact to answer questions for you.  New Frontiers Employment Services, a division of the Easterseals Rehabilitation Center, is an approved Employment Network (EN) that can help you understand how the Ticket to Work program can work for you.

How Does the Program Work for You?

The Ticket Program is flexible and voluntary. Beneficiaries receiving Tickets can contact one or more Employment Networks (EN), such as New Frontiers Employment Services, to discuss services; and, once an agreement between you and the EN is reached, the two of you develop a work plan to assist you in reaching your employment goal.

Oftentimes individuals fear losing their benefits if they were to go back to work, work more hours, or obtain a higher paying job.  This is an understandable fear since it is usually a lengthy and difficult process to obtain benefits in the first place.  At New Frontiers Employment Services, we have a certified Benefits Specialist who can perform a Benefits Analysis to help you see how you can ease your way back into the work force, work to your fullest potential, and maximize your benefits.  An Employment Network (EN) provides services at no cost to you.  The EN will discuss services with you and develop a work plan to assist you in reaching your employment goal and understanding your benefits.
