More than 200 riders and teams trotted into Easter Seals Iowa in Des Moines March 26 delivering donations to support Camp Sunnyside.  The Pony Express Riders of Iowa hold fundraisers in their Iowa counties and deliver the donations to Camp Sunnyside on Easter weekend each year. This year’s donation topped $292,000. In the group’s 49-year history it has raised more than 10,047,000 to support Easter Seals Iowa and Camp Sunnyside.”

Check out photos from the event on the Easter Seals Iowa Facebook page.

Pony Express Riders of Iowa Founders Stub Johnson, Leo Gray, and Wayne Neilson had the idea to ride "Pony Express Style" county to county, not to carry mail but to carry money to help Iowa children and adults with disabilities. The first ride held March 30, 1968 raised $12,000.00 in northwest Iowa. The success spurred them to expand the ride throughout the state the following year. No formal qualifications are needed to become a member of Pony Express - men, women, and children join in the common cause of helping children and adults with disabilities. www.ponyexpressridersofiowa.org
