Des Moines, Iowa—Dee Kading, president of Gabus Automotive Group, presented $25,000 checks to four local charities Monday, August 21.

Charities benefiting from the Gabus Automotive Group donations included:
• AHeinz57 Pet Rescue & Transport
• Central Iowa Shelter & Services
• Easter Seals Iowa
• OK200: Stop The Traffic

“This is a great day for everyone at the Gabus dealerships. It’s the best day of the year when you see the emotion on the faces of the leaders accepting the checks,” said Sean Sellers, General Manager for the Charles Gabus Ford and Kia of Des Moines dealerships. Dee Kading, Gabus Automotive Group CEO and President adds, “Our Gabus Cares program provides our employees and customers the privilege of helping their neighbors in tangible, real ways. We’re honored to continue the giving tradition started by Charles Gabus and expanded under Gene Gabus’ leadership. To date the Gabus Cares program along with the Gabus Family Foundation has donated up to $3 million each year to Iowa nonprofits, with a focus on organizations whose missions support veterans, animals and children.

Here’s how the $100,000 will impact Central Iowans in 2017:
• saves more pet animal lives and provide necessary veterinary and community services
• provides a safe place and life-giving services to veterans
• supports programs that assist veterans with transitioning to civilian life
• provides counseling services and basic needs for human trafficking survivors

“This incredible donation will help fund our new Rescue building — allowing us to save so many more dogs, cats and other lost animals than we currently do. The Rescue building will also serve as a resource for our community, providing educational programs for children and adults and services including low-cost spay and neuter clinics, trap neuter release programs for the cats, a place to train new veterinary students in our new surgery suite, and a program for our senior citizens to provide them with much-needed companions that we continue to fund.”

Central Iowa Shelter & Services is grateful for the work Charles Gabus Ford has done to stand in the gap for those who are less fortunate in our community. The Gabus Cares gift will directly support veterans in our facility — providing them with a safe place to rest their head, three nutritious meals each day, emergency food, clothing, case management and job training.

“Thanks to the tremendous support of the Gabus Automotive Group, people with disabilities in our community will live with greater independence. When a child experiences the joy of Camp Sunnyside, when a farmer continues his livelihood after accident or illness, when a mother tells us our services saved her daughter’s life, when a veteran receives the services needed when transitioning back to civilian life, this is only possible because of your support and our generous community of donors.”

CEO and President
Easter Seals Iowa

“OK200: Stop The Traffic is very thankful and proud to have such a strong community partner in the Gabus Automotive Group. The generous gift we received will help with the mental and physical care needs of trafficking survivors by supporting the salary for a clinical therapist at a Des Moines youth emergency services clinic. Because of the Gabus Automotive Group, hundreds of Des Moines area youth will receive much needed care.“
