Easterseals Iowa received $40,000 from Variety - the Children’s Charity to fund the remodeling of bathrooms in the Variety Rec Center at Camp Sunnyside.

Easterseals Iowa serves all of our state’s 99 counties. We provide services and supports for individuals with disabilities, and their families, to have equal opportunities and to live with independence in our Iowa communities.
Camp Sunnyside provides year-round camping and recreational services to children with disabilities and is open to children with any type of disability or special need.

The Variety Rec Center is used throughout the year by campers on respite weekends and by children in the Child Development Center. During the 10 weeks of summer camp, the Rec Center is heavily used for multiple activities including basketball and rock wall climbing, and also provides an air-conditioned space for relief from the heat.
Remodeling the current bathrooms in the Rec Center will make them accessible for clients and provide an additional private space for children who need personal cares.

President/CEO of Easterseals Iowa Sherri Nielsen says, “Variety is a long-time supporter of Easterseals Iowa.  They recognize the importance of keeping our facilities up-to-date to respond to the changing needs of our campers. This gift will allow us to better serve those who attend Easterseals Iowa Camp Sunnyside.
Variety - the Children’s Charity is dedicated to improving the lives of children who are at-risk, underprivileged, critically ill, or living with special needs. Grant funding is provided to programs and initiatives that directly impact the well-being of children. For more information about Variety grants and programs, visit varietyiowa.org
