With funding from the Dollar General Literacy foundation 24 adults with disabilities have been able to participate in 2,880 hours of literacy programming. The clients have worked on letter and number recognition, a book club, map reading and community sign recognition. Just since March, clients have increased their recognition of community signage 10% (bus stop, cross walk/pedestrian crossing, exit/enter, emergency signs -hospital, fire stations). One client was able to identify signs while in the community independently. This is a skill that the client struggled with previously. She practiced using flash cards, then applied what she learned to her experience in the community! She was able to identify 9/10 signs when asked. This was amazing improvement and brought a new level of confidence and independence to the client!

Thank you to Dollar General Literacy Foundation for supporting our clients and making this initiative possible.
