In November, CVS Health and the CVS Health Foundation announced that they were partnering with Easterseals to support local services that ensure access to healthcare resources for Veterans and military families. This partnership included six different $10,000 grants to be awarded to Easterseals affiliates.
Easterseals Serving Greater Cincinnati was selected as one the six affiliates, in recognition of its excellence responding to the local needs of Veterans, their family members and caregivers. The grant will help Easterseals Veteran Services better connect veterans with medical resources, including registering with the VA, finding alternative healthcare providers for individuals on the VA waitlist, or sourcing providers for individuals ineligible for VA services.
CVS acknowledges the wide array of medical needs that veterans face, assuring that these funds may promote anything from dental services, to addiction treatment centers, and even outreach activities for homeless vets.
Homelessness has become a point of focus for Easterseals Serving Greater Cincinnati. In 2015, Easterseals Veteran Services received a $300,000 Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program (HVRP) grant from the Department of Labor. Based on its performance in the initial year of the grant, they were awarded an additional $103,000 in 2017.
The CVS Health and CVS Health Foundation award will provide valuable support in Easterseals’ ongoing efforts to reconnect homeless veterans to their communities and find meaningful employment.
