This eccentric and earth-centric annual contest gives YOU the opportunity to show your artistic side by creating a piece made primarily from reused or repurposed items. The ReUse-apalooza! Designer Challenge features original and unique masterpieces for the home, created by earth-friendly artisans out of practically anything and everything!
Individuals, teams, and companies are encouraged to put design skills to the test. Designer Challenge pieces are auctioned off at ReUse-apalooza, and the proceeds benefit Building Value and Easterseals.
THANK YOU to everyone who made this night such a success! You raised more than $68,000 for Easterseals' and Building Value's programs which break down barriers to employment. There were some amazing guest vocalists who stepped up to perform with Sexy Time Live Band Karaoke! The wandering performers from My Nose Turns Red Youth Circus were spectacular, and the local bites and drinks were mouth-watering good. The Designer Challenge creations were true works of art, and the Live Auction was action-packed as bidders vied for the most amazing art. And we met Selina, a Building Value graduate who is now an apprentice with The Nelson Stark Company. Learn more about Selina.
We've been known to have a lot of wild, wacky, zany fun at ReUse-Apalooza! But we're serious about our mission: Sustainability. Sustainable materials, sustainable employment, sustainable communities. Building Value keeps thousands of tons of building materials out of landfills, while training people facing employment barriers for fulfilling jobs in construction and retail.
Established in 2004, Building Value is a local non-profit building materials reuse center and deconstruction service in Northside that diverts thousands of tons of reusable building materials waste each year. An enterprise of Easterseals, Building Value provides transitional employment and job training to people with workplace disadvantages looking for a career in construction or retail.
