El Mirador began in the village of Alcalde, New Mexico as a small single facility operation serving three people.
At the time of it's opening in 1971, options for people with disabilities were practically non-existent.
Since it's humble beginnings, ESELM has grown into a large, nationally accredited, federally certified, state licensed agency serving more than 70 people in the Santa Fe, Espanola, and Alcalde Counties. On December 19, 2005 Easter Seals, the leading national non-profit provider of services for people with disabilities, welcomed Santa Maria El Mirador, (ESELM) a non-profit company dedicated to caring for individuals in New Mexico. Their extensive experience provided exciting new options and resources for our participants.
