Easterseals has created two award winning training curricula to help organizations build intergenerational bridges in support of children/youth with autism and their families. Both the Generations & Autism Connect and the Grandparents & Autism Connect curricula are designed for professionals representing:

  • The aging network
  • Volunteer services
  • Faith-based organizations
  • Health care providers
  • Children/youth services

These curricula are best delivered by a professional who has some knowledge and experience with persons with autism. If staff members are not available within your organization with this expertise, you are encouraged to connect with your local Easterseals affiliates or other providers offering services and support to persons with autism and their families.

Generations and Autism Connect

This ready-to-use training resource will help ensure older adult volunteers truly understand how to meet the unique needs of children with autism. The curriculum will assist volunteer coordinators and others with their training responsibilities. Topics covered in the six modules are overview of autism, families, communication, behaviors, community integration, and socialization. Each module includes a presentation, facilitator script, Pre-Post test and answer key, along with any handout materials.

Grandparents and Autism Connect

Having a grandchild with autism can present unique challenges. Grandparents and Autism Connect is a training resource that can be used by supporting groups and others interested in enhancing the skills and knowledge of grandparents of children with autism. This modular curriculum covers topics including: overview of autism, families, communication, behavior, community integration, and socialization. Each module includes a presentation, facilitator script, Pre-Post test and answer key, along with any handout materials.
