Easter Seals programs across the country provide a wide variety of interventions that help individuals of all abilities, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Children develop skills, or "milestones," at their own pace. How is your child or grandchild doing?
This program provides a fun and relaxed atmosphere where participants are encouraged to have fun with various forms of art media. This program is run by a team of Occupational Therapists, with an emphasis on improving overall hand skills through a multi-sensory approach. Children will also be guided through activities to increase their comfort level with novel tactile experiences. This program will enrich and strengthen participants’ fine motor skills and increase hand strength through an assortment of experiences with arts and crafts. Participants will be exposed to many different tactile experiences, such as paper mache, modeling mixtures, various kinds of dough and many other original and “messy” projects! Participants will work with the materials at their comfort level with the therapists modifying activities as needed.
Children ages 4-6 years old who have delayed hand skills and difficulties with fine motor activities/skills. This program’s fun approach would also be ideal for children who do not show an interest in doing the typical “sit down” fine motor activities of writing, drawing or coloring. Children with tactile defensiveness or sensitivities to different touch experiences would also benefit.
