There Is Still Time to Donate to Your Favorite Charity - Easterseals

March 20, 2017

The Easterseals/CAI Volleyball Challenge was a huge success raising over $300,900 for local people with disabilities and their families. However, there is still time to donate to your favorite team at www.volleyballchallenge.com. There were 253 volunteers that donated 1,686 hours of their time over the three-day-event.

Journey Parson and her family, the 2017 Volleyball ambassadors, made quite an impression on the over 2,000 people that played and volunteered at the Challenge. Their team, “Team Journey Girl”, raised over $4,600. Journey received Children’s Therapy services with Easterseals starting at 11 months old.

“We would like to thank everyone who participated in the Volleyball Challenge! It was refreshing to see so many people donating and playing for a cause that directly affects our family. Easterseals has been a tremendous help to our child and how she lives her everyday life,” Patrice, Journey’s mom, said. “Easterseals has seen our family at a time when we didn’t know what to do and helped to build us into a family that can work together to get the best out of and for our daughter Journey.”

In the much-anticipated Democrats vs Republicans Match, the Democrats came out on top in this year’s game. The overall score is now 7-5 with the Republicans holding onto the lead. For the second year in a row, Capital One won the Corporate Challenge. Hodgson Vocational Technical School held onto the trophy for the fifth year in a row in the High School Challenge, raising the most dollars for Easterseals.

“We are forever grateful to Easterseals and to those who supported the volleyball challenge. The funds raised will be able to help families like ours receive the therapies, camps and support they need,” Patrice said. “Easterseals makes a difference in each of their participants. We are blessed to have been able to take part in the ambassador experience to share our story and give back a portion of what Easterseals has given us.”

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore offers a range of services, including children’s therapies, assistive technology, recreational camping, day programs for adults with physical or intellectual disabilities, and respite services for caregivers.
