Easterseals Camp Fairlee Recognizes Donors of CAMPaign Fairlee

May 18, 2017

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore recently recognized those who helped raise nearly $4.5 million to expand and modernize Easterseals Camp Fairlee in chestertown, MD. A beautiful donor wall was dedicated and now hangs in the newly constructed Activity Center, which, not only welcomes families to the fully accessible camp, but also allows Camp Fairlee to be a year-round resource of respite and
recreation to families in the region.

The Activity Center is just one of many improvements made to Camp Fairlee through CAMPaign Fairlee, making it possible to serve more families during the summer and throughout the year. Though the construction is complete, Easterseals is still seeking donations to complete the capital campaign.

“This $4.5 million campaign is nearly complete! We are at 97% of our goal!” John Riley, co-chair of CAMPaign Fairlee and Easterseals board member, said at the dedication ceremony. “I am so proud to be standing here today surrounded by, not only the beautiful buildings that have already begun to hold memories, but by all of you who made it happen.”

Easterseals still needs to raise just under $200,000 to meet their $4.5M goal to complete the renovations. Donations to the campaign can be made at www.de.easterseals.org by selecting "Direct my gift to CAMPaign Fairlee.” A lasting memory at Camp can be created to honor, or in memory of, a camper, counselor, family member or mentor by selecting "Buy-A-Brick Campaign".

“CAMPaign Fairlee has truly been our ‘Field of Dreams’. You know the adage, build it and they will come. In our case, it was: build it and they will support it,” David Doane, co-chair of CAMPaign Fairlee and Easterseals board member, said at the Dedication Ceremony. “We are here to thank all of you today for helping to make this ‘Dream’ for the people we serve a reality. Your support will touch lives for years to come!”

Easterseals CAMPaign Fairlee is a community-supported effort to expand and modernize Camp Fairlee. The project included the construction of a new activity center, health center, four residential cabins, the expansion of the dining hall, and upgrades to the roads and paths of Camp Fairlee. The camp offers campers of all abilities the opportunity for a safe and accessible camping experience year-round. Meanwhile, families enjoy peace of mind, an opportunity to rest and focus on relationships with spouses or other children, and experience activities that are out of reach in their daily lives.

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore offers a range of services, including children’s therapies, assistive technology, recreational camping, day programs for adults with physical or intellectual disabilities, and respite services for caregivers.
