Easter Seals Camp Fairlee Receives American Camp Association Accreditation

December 29, 2016

Easter Seals Camp Fairlee has recently received its American Camp Association (ACA)-Accredited® Camp status in an accreditation process which evaluates key aspects of camp operation. ACA accredited camps meet up to 300 standards for health, safety and program quality. The ACA scored Camp Fairlee in each of their four programs, including: summer camp, year-round respite and rental, day camp and their travel trip program. Camp Fairlee programs exceeded all expectations.

“We are proud to have done so well in this evaluation. When choosing appropriate camps for loved ones, parents and caregivers should always look for camps accredited by American Camp Association,” Sallie Price, Director of Recreation and Respite Services, says. “Doing so provides assurance of high standards of practice pertaining to recreation and care giving responsibilities. This is especially important for families with individuals with special needs.”

ACA helps all accredited camps provide: healthy, developmentally-appropriate activities and learning experiences; discovery through experiential education; caring, competent role models; service to the community and the environment; and opportunities for leadership and personal growth

ACA is the only independent accrediting organization reviewing camp operations in the country. Its nationally-recognized standards program focuses primarily on the program quality, health and safety aspects of a camp's operation. ACA collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies to assure that current practices at the camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation.
